What Does Om Mean?
Om (also written as Aum) is the most sacred sound in Hinduism. It's believed to be the very first sound of creation — the vibration from which the entire universe emerged.
- ✓ A (aah) — Creation and waking consciousness
- ✓ U (ooh) — Preservation and the dream state
- ✓ M (mmm) — Transformation and deep sleep
Together, they represent the entirety of existence. Teaching children about Om gives them a foundation for understanding Hindu spiritual practice.
